With the wide spread of Covid-19, the trend toward localization is putting the 15-minute city (coined by French-Colombian scientist Carlos Moreno) on the focus of metropolitan areas around the world. Enhancing the concept of the 15-minute city the site has been envisioned to improve the quality of life by creating cities where everything a resident need can be reached within a quarter of an hour by foot or bike. To create ease of access for pedestrians and cyclist, along with the BRTS route, a 1.8 m wide obstruction-free footpath and at grade obstruction-free 1.4 m wide cycle track is planned on both sides of Tilak road. A 2.0 m wide MUZ is planned to accommodate parking, hawkers, street furniture etc. At places, where there are public buildings place making sites have been proposed connecting semi-public spaces with public domain on street.
To create a resilient neighbourhood model and to respond to climate change, the network of WBC is further strengthened by connecting greens, adding mini-green spaces and multi-functional linear parks on street
